Ragi dosa mix is a convenient and quick way to make dosas using ragi (finger millet), a nutritious whole grain. Ragi is known for its high nutritional content, including fiber, calcium, and other essential nutrients. Making dosas with ragi dosa mix is a simple process that usually involves just a few additional ingredients.

Ingredients

Ragi (washed & dry roasted), Urad dal, Rice, Fenugreek, Pink salt

Instructions to Use

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Batter:
  • In a mixing bowl, take the required amount of ragi dosa mix.
  • Gradually add water to the mix and stir well to form a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to that of regular dosa batter.
  1. Add Salt:
  • Add salt to taste and mix it well into the batter.
  1. Rest the Batter:
  • Allow the batter to rest for a few minutes. This helps the ragi flour absorb the water and improves the consistency of the batter.
  1. Adjust Consistency (if needed):
  • If the batter is too thick, you can add a little more water to achieve the desired consistency.
  1. Heat the Griddle:
  • Heat a dosa tawa (griddle) on medium heat. Once hot, drizzle a few drops of oil and spread it evenly on the surface.
  1. Pour and Spread:
  • Pour a ladleful of the ragi dosa batter onto the center of the hot tawa. Using the back of the ladle, spread the batter in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
  1. Cook the Dosa:
  • Cook the dosa on medium heat until the edges start to lift and the bottom turns golden brown.
  1. Flip and Cook (Optional):
  • If desired, flip the dosa and cook the other side briefly. Ragi dosas are usually cooked only on one side, but you can flip it if you prefer a crispier texture.
  1. Serve:
  • Once cooked to your liking, transfer the ragi dosa to a plate and repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  1. Serve Hot:
  • Serve the ragi dosas hot with chutney, sambar, or any other side dish of your choice.

This is a basic recipe, and you can customize it by adding ingredients like finely chopped onions, green chilies, or coriander leaves to the batter for extra flavor.
